Change of the potential additional water demand for the 30-year period 2031-2060 to 1971-2000, climate protection scenario (RCP2.6)

Description

The map shows the average change in the potential additional water demand (in mm) 2031-2060 compared to 1971-2000 under the ‘climate change’ scenario (RCP2.6). Auxiliary water demand is the average amount of water within the growing season (April-September), which is required to maintain 40% usable field capacity (nFK) in the effective root space (nFKWe). The average amount of water is calculated for an average of the fruit types winter wheat, winter barley, winter barley with catch crop, summer barley, corn, sugar beet and potatoes. The climate models are driven by the ‘climate change mitigation’ scenario (RCP2.6). This is a scenario of the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change), which means significant efforts in climate protection and low emissions. The results of all climate models are equally likely. Therefore, in addition to the mean, which shows a trend, the upper (maximum) and lower (minimum) edge of the result bandwidth can also be retrieved via the MapTip.
