Environmental monitoring, groundwater chemistry
Description
Environmental monitoring of groundwater is carried out in around 1700 test sites. The number of places changes between years and is currently increasing. Environmental monitoring is conducted partly at national level by SGU through long-term environmental monitoring programmes and partly at regional level. Sampling is often carried out in observation wells, pipes or springs and, to some extent, in water sources within the framework of raw water control. Sample sites consisting of water sources in waterworks are not included in the data set for stations as the information about their location is confidential but analytical data from these water sources is available.
Environmental monitoring data is divided into ‘stations’ for sampling points and ‘analysis data’ for the analyses available for the selected station(s).
