Developments in Biodiversity in Austria
Description
Which Austria-wide trends are evident in terms of protection measures - measures for biodiversity, the state of biodiversity and risk factors? What are the trends in biotope type areas? The report answers these questions and gives an overview of the situation of biodiversity in Austria. The results show that current conservation measures are not sufficient to achieve a comprehensive improvement in the state of biodiversity, although some negative trends have been halted. In particular, hydrological changes and agricultural and forestry uses continue to endanger biodiversity. The results of the two case studies on the development of the Great Bustard (Otis tarda) in eastern Austria and the salt lakes in Seewinkel also correspond to this Austria-wide pattern.
