Description
The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting, evidencing the City’s commitment to go beyond the minimum requirements of generally accepted accounting principles to prepare the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report, demonstrating the spirit of transparency and full disclosure . Achievement of this award also plays an important role in the City’s credit ratings.
The GFOA has a comprehensive program in place whereby potential recipients of the award must comply with the program award requirements. The GFOA provides a checklist that is utilized each year to evaluate whether our Comprehensive Annual Financial Report is meeting program requirements.
