The change in mobility starts in the mind: Value change and knowledge building.
Description
The transport sector is one of the main sources of greenhouse gas emissions. In spite of technological advances, absolute direct CO2 emissions from passenger cars increased by 5.1% between 1995 and 2019. The data and figures show that the climate target in the transport sector cannot be achieved without a gradual reduction in driving and the switch to environmentally friendly means of transport. One starting point is in particular the limitation and reduction of the driving and traffic performance of motorized individual traffic (MIV). The subject of this short study is the question to what extent the mobility transition can be driven forward by targeted awareness-raising measures: What are the prerequisites for them to be effective? What cognitive aspects should be considered? How can long-established habits be broken and mobility decisions successfully influenced? And what can municipalities do in this regard? The focus of attention here is especially on driving and avoiding it.
