Identification of mudflats and risk zones by the communes of Côtes d’Armor 2017 (surface)
Description
A mud is a coastal, estuarine, submarine or freshwater habitat consisting of fine, non-sandy sedimented materials. As a natural habitat, a slurry corresponds to an area of natural sedimentation, but there are more artificial situations (e.g. due to the construction of a large dam or the regulation of the course of a river), which can provide alternative habitat for wildlife, if they are not polluted and if they retain some naturality in their ecological functioning. It is called “intertidal” if it is located between the high and low levels of the tide.
This layer represents the municipalities on which risk areas have been identified by the municipalities in recent years. These data cannot be exhaustive, they represent only the presence of a risk identified between 2008 and 2010 on the coastline and therefore a potential risk for the years to come.
Following a census requested by the Prefect and carried out in coastal and estuarine municipalities, an inventory of mudflats and risk areas was carried out. Details of this survey can be found on the website of the State Services in Côtes d’Armor at:
