Description
A geological 3D model of the Northwest German Basin was created for the land of Schleswig-Holstein, which provides a spatial image of the data of the Geotectonic Atlas of NW-Germany (Baldschuhn et al. 2001) and provides the geological framework and the regional basis for various subsequent studies. The model area covers the entire Baltic region of Schleswig-Holstein and the eastern part of the German North Sea sector. The E-W extension is about 280 km and the N-S extension is about 160 km (total area 38.500 km²). Vertically, the model extends from the terrain surface (max. 168 m above sea level). NHN) to the base of the Zechstone (max. about 10.5 km u. NHN) and consists of 14 base surfaces of lithostratigraphic units, vertical disturbance surfaces (disturbance tracks) at different depth levels and interfaces of the salt diapire.
