Change in relief (Monitor Landscape)
Description
The Relieve indicator is intended to analyse changes in the ground level of agricultural land and natural terrain in the Dutch cultural landscape over the years. With the relief indicator, it is possible to monitor the nature and distribution of relief interventions on agricultural land and on natural land. The smallest changes in height have not been taken into account for data-technical reasons. In addition, the smallest measurable changes for the monitoring of relief are not relevant, because after regular agricultural activities such as ploughs, the altitude measurements show a higher ground level. Larger changes such as the depletion of nature, or the chilling of agricultural land are visible in the analysis. The changes are shown per 500 x 500 meter grid cell.
The indicator is part of the Monitor Landscape. The monitor shows the changes in our landscape on the basis of six indicators. These are: buildings, land use, openness, rising greenery, historical line elements and relief.
The National Agency for Cultural Heritage, Het Kadaster, LandschapNL and Wageningen University & Research developed the Landscape Monitor on behalf of the ministries of BZK (Home Affairs), OCW (Education, Culture and Science) and LNV (Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality).
