Synergy potentials between Lower Saxony moorland and water landscapes (overlays of programme backdrops)
Description
The database shows the overlapping areas of the two Lower Saxony programmes "Niedersächsische Moorlandschaften" (NML) and "Niedersächsische Wasserlandschaften" (NGL). The watercourses and floodplain areas of the priority waters of the Water Framework Directive (WFD) contained in the NGLs, which overlap with the backdrop of the NML, are presented here. Due to their high proportion of bogs, the floodplain areas shown show special intersections and potential synergies between the objectives of the Lower Saxony Water Landscapes and Lower Saxony Moor Landscapes programme.The overlay areas provide a backdrop within which the implementation of "blue-green" (combined species and biotope protection and water protection) measures can lead to the achievement of both the objectives of the Lower Saxony Moor Landscapes action programme and the objectives of the Lower Saxony Water Landscapes programme. The exploitation of such synergy potentials through the linking of the Lower Saxony Moorland and Lower Saxony Water Landscapes programmes and the identification of corresponding backdrops is the declared goal of the State of Lower Saxony.
