Securing and establishing habitat networking in Austria.
Description
Habitat networking is essential for the preservation and restoration of habitats. Related habitats ensure the migration and distribution possibilities of living beings as well as the fitness and genetic diversity of species. Based on an analysis of the habitat configuration and landscape structure, the report provides a comprehensive overview of the structure of the habitat corridors in Austria with special attention to insects. The development of a guideline for assessing the permeability of habitat corridors, the anchoring of habitat connectivity in the forest development plan and the establishment of the ‘coordinating body for habitat connectivity in Austria’ also make a significant contribution to the successful implementation of habitat connectivity.
