Air basins in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes

Description

The air basins are created in the “zonal framework document on prefectural procedures and interdepartmental measures in the event of episodes of ambient air pollution” which is a prefectural decree of the Prefect of Area No. PREF_DIA_BCI_2017_05_22_01 of 22 May 2017. The creation of this document is foreseen in the Order of 7 April 2016. In addition, Article 9 provides for the creation of air basins, each of which must be “proportionate to the pollution area defined in the framework document provided for in Article 3 and justified taking into account the topographical characteristics and air circulations in the territory concerned.” The Order of 26 August 2016 specifies Article 9 by adding for the creation of air basins the following part “after consultation of a committee bringing together the decentralised services of the State concerned and the regional health agency, the president of the regional council, the presidents of the departmental councils, the presidents of the inter-communal co-operation bodies concerned, and the competent authorities of the competent authorities.”
