Measuring campaign at the Eider 09/2020

Description

As part of a measurement campaign in September 2020, mobile ADCP flow measurements were carried out in the near field of the Eider Barrier Plant. For the first time, it was measured on two transverse profiles, in front and behind the barrier. On four days of measurement, a whole tide was measured during four control tests (side operation, flood throttling, flood and ebb throttling as well as flood throttling during (n-1) operation). Although, as expected, the measurements during throttle operation on the flow-off side of the blocking plant failed due to strong turbulence for a more or less long period of time, but could be measured consistently on the second profile. Parallel to the measurements at the Eider barrier, conductivity, water temperature, oxygen, turbidity and flow velocity were measured on four anchorages in the outer and tide eggers.
