Ex-Situ Treatment of Contaminated Soils
Description
The present report of the Federal Environment Agency describes stationary plants for the treatment of contaminated soils in Austria, with regard to different ex situ procedures and technology. Of the 18 soil treatment plants surveyed, ten apply plant microbiological methods, three mechanical methods, two mechanical treatment methods in combination with solidification/stabilization, another two thermal methods and one chemical-physical method. The soil treatment plants described treat both contaminated soil and other hazardous and non-hazardous types of waste. The primary objective of the treatment of contaminated soils is the reduction of contamination for the assignment to certain landfill classes and the production of mineral materials for recycling.
