The 19th National Conference on Child Abuse and Neglect (NCCAN) was held from April 30 to May 2, 2014, in New Orleans, LA. Each day featured a plenary session on a specific topic. The opening plenary
featured a presentation by Thomas L. Birch, J.D., and Deborah Daro, Ph.D., titled "Persuasive Claims: CAPTA's Myths, Memories, and Evidence," which recognizes the 40th anniversary of the adoption of the Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act (CAPTA).
