The 19th National Conference on Child Abuse and Neglect (NCCAN) was held from April 30 to May 2, 2014, in New Orleans, LA. Each day featured a plenary session on a specific topic. The opening plenary
featured a presentation by Thomas L. Birch, J.D., and Deborah Daro, Ph.D., titled "Persuasive Claims: CAPTA's Myths, Memories, and Evidence," which recognizes the 40th anniversary of the adoption of the Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act (CAPTA). Other speakers include ACF Acting Assistant Secretary Mark Greenberg, J.D.; Melissa Lim Brodowski, Ph.D., M.S.W., M.P.H.; Angela White-Bazile, J.D.; Angelo McClain, Ph.D., L.I.C.S.W.
