The approximately 680 km long route ran through the following stages (and lunch stations):
Donauwörth — (Wassertrüdingen) — Ansbach — (Rothenburg ob der Tauber) — Kitzingen — (Gerolzhofen) — Haßfurt — (Burgellers) — Forchheim — (Run an der Pegnitz) — Neumarkt i.d.OPf. — (Beilngries) — Kelheim — (Geiselhöring) — Deggendorf — (Landau an der Isar) — Dingolfing. Note: The signets shown on the routes mark the water and lunch breaks of the then tour.
