Drinking water production areas in Schleswig-Holstein
Description
Representation of the groundwater catchment areas of the waterworks of the public drinking water supply with a withdrawal volume from 100,000 cubic meters per year for which no drinking water protection area is established or planned. Withdrawals from different aquifers in some cases lead to overlays of hydraulically separated catchments. The term "drinking water production area" used in Schleswig-Holstein is not legally standardised. There are therefore no specific legally binding regulations for drinking water production areas. However, the term "drinking water production area" has been introduced as a category in regional planning, since in drinking water production areas, in addition to securing the public drinking water supply, the aspect of preventive groundwater protection is of particular importance when weighing up with other usage claims.
