The file shows the location of landfills with a national function in Overijssel. This function is based on the National Waste Management Plan (LAP). The landfills are located in Bovenveld (municipality of Hardenberg), Elhorst-Vloedbelt (municipality of Borne) and Boeldershoek (municipality of Hengelo and Enschede). For the former landfills closed after 1 September 1996, a statutory after-care scheme has been introduced. The responsibility for the aftercare of these landfills has been placed with the provinces. Landfills that were closed before 1996 have often been landfilled at or below ground level. This is usually carried out without environmental protection agents such as bottom sealing or top sealing. The responsibility for the management of these former landfills lies primarily with the owner.
