Natura 2000 Birds Directive (VSLR)
Description
The “Directive on the conservation of wild birds” (Council Directive 2009/147/EC of 30 November 2009), the first version of which was adopted in 1979, is the European Community’s instrument to protect European bird species as a whole as part of European biodiversity. The objective of this Directive is to preserve all species of wild birds native to the Community in their natural ranges and habitats. For this purpose, EU bird protection areas are established in accordance with Articles 3 and 4 of the EU Birds Directive.
