Latvian Reconstructed Film Collection
Description
The collection of restored Latvian films includes 77 films. Since 2008, the Latvian State Archive of Film Photophony Documents in cooperation with various partners periodically participates in the digitisation and restoration of films. The restoration of films in cooperation with the archives has been organised by the National Film Centre (NCC), film authors and other cooperation partners. Funding for the restoration of films comes from various sources of financing. Funding from ERDF projects provided an opportunity to renew 9 fiction films and 9 animations in 2011, 9 fiction films and 6 documentary films from 2018-2019 and 6 fiction films, 7 documentary films and 6 animation films from 2021-2022. Several fiction films have been restored for the budget of the participating institutions (NCC and the National Archives of Latvia), as well as attracting funding from the State Culture Capital Foundation and other cooperation partners. Today, from 2008 to 2022, we have restored 40 fiction films, 22 documentaries and 15 animation films.
