Petroleum raw materials and products balance; supply and consumption
Description
This table shows the supply and consumption of petroleum products and petroleum raw materials in a balanced form.
Petroleum products include the fuels LPG, motor gasoline and diesel oil. The balance sheet contains both products intended for processing or consumption in the Netherlands and those intended for transit.
Petroleum raw materials are crude oil, natural gas condensate and additives (semi-finished products for petrol and diesel). There are separate balance sheet items for the raw materials intended for processing in the Netherlands and the raw materials intended for transit. The difference between these two flows is that import duties were paid for the goods intended for processing in the Netherlands and not for the goods intended for transit.
For the conversion of kg to litres of petrol, diesel and car gas including excise duty, the following standard densities are used:
Petrol 0.75 kg/l, Diesel 0.836 kg/l and LPG 0.535 kg/l.
This table replaces the tables:
Petroleum raw material balance; supply, consumption and stock, 1944-April 2021
Petroleum products balance; supply, consumption and stock, 1946-April 2021
Motor fuels; sales in petaJoule, weight and volume, 1946-April 2021
See paragraph 3.
Data available from: January 2015
Status of figures
Figures up to 2021 are final.
Figures for 2022 and 2023 are further provisional.
Figures for 2024 are provisional.
Changes as of 28 June 2024:
Figures for April 2024 have been added.
Changes as of 7 June 2024:
Further provisional figures for 2023 have been added.
Changes as of 14 November 2023:
The figures from 2015 to 2021 have been revised for diesel and fuel oil.
The overhaul concerns the consumption of diesel and affects the parent energy carriers (total gas-diesel oil, petroleum products and total petroleum raw materials and products and total energy carriers).
New data on diesel consumption in mobile tools have been incorporated. As a result, the final energy consumption of diesel among the other customers (construction, services and agriculture) will increase. This has an effect on final energy consumption on road traffic, which is reduced as a result.
In addition, analysis of improved data for 2015 has reduced the amount of bunkered high-sulphur heavy fuel oil by more than 800 kt and increased exports by the same amount.
When will there be new figures?
Provisional figures: the second month following the end of the reporting period.
Final figures: by December of the second year following the reporting year.
