Environmental Regulation - Groundwater Protection Areas
Description
Around the water catchment area are the groundwater protection areas with water that is pumped up between 1 and 25 years. About 70% of our drinking water is extracted from groundwater. It is therefore important to prevent pollution of groundwater. There are therefore requirements for the direct and indirect discharge of hazardous substances into or into the soil. The province and its partners aim to protect groundwater as a source of drinking water supply. This file was adopted by the Provincial Council on 15 November 2023 and will enter into force on 1 January 2024 under the Environment Act.
