Solar power; wealth and wealth class, businesses and homes, region
Description
This table contains figures on the number of installations, the installed capacity of solar panels and the production of solar power by these installations.
The figures can be broken down by sector (companies and homes). In addition, it is possible to split the installations and generated electricity according to installation size. Sun on land is broken down into small (<= 15 kW) and large (> 15 kW) power. The large capacity can be further divided into solar power on the roof and on land (field). Installations on inland waterways are counted as field installations, installations above a parking space as well as roof installations. The number of installations and the installed capacity can be broken down by municipality, province, part of the country, RES region and subRES region (RES stands for Regional Energy Strategy). The production of solar power cannot be broken down by municipal level. In production, subRES region is thus the last regional scale level.
The position at the end date of each displayed period is displayed. For an entire year, that is December 31, and for figures up to Q2 (second quarter) that is June 30.
The regional classification is based on the municipal classification of the year in question.

Preliminary figures for 2023 have been adjusted for some municipalities in the province of Utrecht.
Changes as of 7 June 2024:
Provisional figures for the year 2023 have been added. Due to more recent dates and (limited) changes in the methodology, differences may occur between 2022 and 2023, as only the figures for 2023 have been updated. Also, the method to determine in which sector an installation falls is still under development, so that differences can occur. The figures for 2022 and 2023 will receive a simultaneous update in mid-November 2024 to eliminate these differences.
Changes as of 14 November 2023:
New figures for 2023 have been added, figures for 2021 and 2022 have been updated. The figures for 2021 are final. The method for determining the sector in which an installation falls has changed compared to the method used in previous years. As a result, it may happen that a trend break is visible in the figures on homes, companies and the A-U business sectors between the years 2020 and 2021. More detailed explanations can be found in Section 4, Sources and Methods.
Changes as of 16 June 2023:
Provisional figures for the year 2022 have been added. Due to several changes in the methodology, the breakdown by sectors (A and D) cannot yet take place. These are therefore not shown in the provisional figures for 2022.
Status of figures:
Data for 2019, 2020 and 2021 are final, data for 2022 are further provisional and data for 2023 are provisional.
When will there be new figures?
By mid-November 2024, the figures for the whole of 2022 will become final, 2023 will be further provisional and further provisional figures for 2024 to Q2 will be added.
