Business; Cyclical picture by industry, 2008 – 1st quarter 2018
Description
This Statline table provides coherent information on recent developments in Dutch business. This table differs in design from many other Statline tables. Most tables provide detailed results of one statistics, while this compilation table brings together the main outcomes from various cyclically relevant statistics. The table thus provides an up-to-date cyclical picture of the sectors and sectors concerned and for industry as a whole. In addition to up-to-date quarterly information, this table contains a number of structural data from the last published production statistics compiled annually for the sectors and sectors concerned. This table was discontinued on 12 June and is followed by a new table, see paragraph 3.

Status of the figures:
The data, which are published quarterly, are provisional for 2017 and 2018 and for the remaining periods. The structure data per year are final.

Changes as of 8 February 2018:
The figures for the third quarter of 2017 have been added and the previous periods for 2017 may have been revised. In the business cycle data, the fourth quarter of 2017 was added. The 2015 structural data have also been added.

Turnover index and development:
Over time, some figures in the source tables have been corrected. These corrections have now been made in the table Business Image.
Price index and development:
Over time, some figures in the source tables have been corrected. These corrections have now been made in the table Business Image.
In addition, the price index and development will no longer be available for the aggregate 62-63 IT and information services. This connects to the source table.
Cyclical data:
Until 2016, there was a difference between the quarterly figures and the figures for the first month of the quarter. First, the monthly figures were used for this. From now on, quarterly figures will be used. It’s more logical to use it, because the economic picture table is a quarterly table.
Bankruptcies:
Over time, some figures in the source tables have been corrected. These corrections have now been made in the table Business Image.
Structure data:
The results of the so-called structural data varied in detail (number of decimal places) from the same results as published in various other Statline tables. The results have been harmonised in this publication. This means that the results in this table are now also rounded to whole numbers and are in line with the various other publications on Statline.
Changes as of 19 October 2017:
The figures for the second quarter of 2017 have been added and the previous periods for 2017 may have been revised. In the business cycle data, the third quarter of 2017 was added. The figures in this table are compared with the figures from the underlying specific source tables, such as tables of turnover and price statistics and the Netherlands Business and Consumer Survey (COEN). This comparison revealed inconsistencies. The differences are mainly caused by not always implementing modified figures from the source tables. In addition, in a limited number of cases, figures on ‘Quartal on Quarterly’ developments have been erroneously published instead of ‘Year by Year’ developments. All differences have been corrected in this version of the table. A number of figures on the industry have been replaced by a point due to insufficient reliability.
