Employees; physical workload and sustainable employability
Description
This table contains data on the physical working conditions and the sustainable employability of employees aged 15 to 75, by ASBL branches (SBI 2008). This also includes employees who are employed but do not perform work due to illness, maternity leave or other temporary career breaks. The table presents figures on force application, noise and vibration, hazardous work and hazardous substances, working posture, VDU work, the age to which employees want to continue working and expect to be able to do so, and current employability. The data can be broken down by (sub)sector, classified according to the Standard Business Classification 2008 (SBI 2008) of Statistics Netherlands.
This table was developed as part of the Labour Market, Care and Welfare (AZW) research programme. For more trends and developments in the field of the labour market in care and welfare, see AZWinfo. See paragraph 3.
As of the reporting year 2022, the way in which data for the NEA were collected and processed differs in some respects from previous reporting years. As a result, the figures from 2022 may not be comparable in all cases with the figures up to 2021. More information is available in the NEA 2022 study description. See paragraph 4.

Within the topic ‘Dangerous substances (from 2022)’, ‘Possibility of contamination’ has been expanded to include the different sources of contamination (patients, other people, animals, water, research material, other material).

In 2022, the question of working with hazardous substances was changed. As a result of these changes, the figures on this subject from 2022 onwards are not comparable with the figures from previous years (2014-2021). Figures on the old subject will no longer be supplemented as of 2022.
Changes as of 2 June 2022:
Annual figures for 2021 have been added. The figures for 2014 to 2020 have been corrected. In the previous version, persons with SBI code ‘88990’ were mistakenly included in the Youth Care sector in the years 2014 to 2020, while underlying SBI codes can be counted under different branches. With this correction, persons with SBI code 88990 are no longer counted to the Youth Care (but to non-AZW). In addition, in the figures for the year 2020, a number of ‘broad’ SBI codes were counted to specific ASBL branches, while the underlying SBI codes can be counted to different branches. The persons with these broad SBI codes are also no longer included in the AZW branches in this version.

Figures for the previous year shall be published by May at the latest.
