Description
Theatrum Belli Rhenani 1702-1713 (HKTBR).
This west-facing ‘Rheinische Kriegstheater’ was produced by the military cartographer Cyriakus Blödner in imperial service and shows the war zone on the Rhine between Lake Constance and Koblenz at the time of the War of the Spanish Succession 1702 - 1713.
On pages 11, 15, 16 and 20, a detailed part of the text describes the course of the war during the year 1713. The numbers in the text refer to the positions and movements of the imperial-German and French troops shown in the map.
The map, which is kept in the War Archives in Vienna and is drawn on parchment in multicolour at a scale of approx. 1 : 110 000 has a total size of approx. 170 cm x 300 cm and is cut into 20 individual sheets.
