Image-defining heritage - based on canon
Description
This map contains a selection of iconic heritage, based on seven
Different thematic stories. This selection reflects the historical
development of the province of South Holland. The storylines concern: trade
and economy, agriculture, water, (military) defences, governance,
urban development and architectural styles.
In the selection of image-defining heritage, as much as possible has been drawn from existing
sources and inventories, in particular the Canon of South Holland and the
History of South Holland. Then the storylines are in an expert session
further supplemented. The selection of image-defining heritage represents
some important events and moments in time, but is not
intended to give a complete picture.
The year in which the iconic heritage was built is not always unambiguous
to find out. Often different years are used in different sources.

or in the Register of Monuments of the Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands.
