General assistance; benefits under WIJ, 2009-2011
Description
The table provides insight into the number of benefits granted under the Investing in Youth Act (WIJ). The WE entered into force on 1 October 2009.
The data are broken down by the following personal and benefit characteristics:
— gender;
— age;
— form of life;
— length of benefit.
Please note:
A WIJ benefit is granted to one person. It is possible that in a household with two persons, both persons receive a WIJ benefit (in the form of an income provision).
In that situation, the living form ‘(marriage) pair’ applies (with the corresponding standard amount) and the benefits are counted as a single benefit in the statistics.
The results therefore do not reflect the number of persons who depend on a WIJ benefit, but the number of households to which a benefit has been granted.
In the case of a benefit to a couple, CBS takes over the personal characteristics of the oldest person of the couple for the purpose of the publication.
As of January 1, 2012, a number of laws have been amended.
For example, the Investment in Young People Act (WIJ) and the Work and Income Artists Act (WWIK) have been abolished.
As of 2012, young people (up to 27 years old) and artists are again covered by the WWB (Work and Assistance Act). In addition, the household income test has been introduced in the WWB.
New is also the family concept in the assistance. As a result of these changes, there has been a delay in the delivery of data to CBS.
In addition, CBS carries out quality research on the figures received.

When will there be new figures? The table has been discontinued due to the abolition of the Investment in Youth Act (WIJ) as of 1 January 2012.
