Dwellings; main heating installations, region
Description
This table shows information on the percentage of homes in the Netherlands by type of main heating system at regional level.
The population consists of the dwellings in stock on 1 January of the year under review, this means that new construction was not included in the year under review, but dwellings that are demolished during the year.
The type of main heating installation is determined, inter alia, on information on natural gas deliveries throughout the reporting year and the energy label applicable at the end of the reporting year.
From 1 July 2018 it is mandatory to build natural gas-free homes.
Data available: 2017 to 2022.

2017 to 2020: Final figures.
2021: Further preliminary figures.

Amendments as of November 2023:
For some stocks for the years 2017, 2018 and 2019, in the September 2023 update, the “0” had dropped out of the figure in some places. For example, the 10.1 share was incorrectly displayed as 1.1. These shares have been corrected.
Amendments as of September 2023:
Provisional figures for 2022 have been added. Figures for 2021 have been given the further provisional status and 2020 figures have become final.
A new category ‘Total without gas consumption (excluding unknown)’ has been added for all years. This is the summation of the categories ‘City heating without gas consumption’ and ‘Electricly heated without gas consumption’, i.e. the natural gas-free housing.
