Description
Hospital medical statistics are based on an annual survey of all hospitalisations in all hospitals and clinics in Switzerland. The survey covers in particular the diagnoses and treatments of each patient. The data, in order to be processed, are coded using two medical classifications: ICD-10-GM for diagnostics and CHOP for treatments. The coding of diagnoses and treatments follows specific guidelines. The field of medical coding and medical classifications of the OFS drafts, revises and adapts these guidelines as necessary, takes care of the maintenance of classifications and the support of the persons responsible for coding. This publication was based on the 2018 version of the ICD-10-GM systematic index in French and the translation of ICD-10-GM 2021 published by the Bundesinstitut für Arzneimittel und Medizinprodukte (BfArM). ICD-10-GM 2021 will enter into force in Switzerland on 1 January 2021. At the OFS, it is available in 2 languages (French and Italian). The PDF, CSV and ClaML versions can be downloaded directly from the OFS website. A printed version of the ICD-10-GM 2021 systematic index is not available. However, you can order the CIM-10-GM 2020 version by following the additional link below. When sending the printed version of ICD-10-GM 2020, the 2020-2021 update list will be attached.
