EHS 2015, defence areas (history)
Description
The Ecological Main Structure (EHS) is a cohesive structure of areas with a special nature quality. The EHS has been established as part of the Provincial Environment Regulation. It is updated annually. The ecological compounds are also part of the established EHS. External organisations will also be consulted during the update. The following data files have been used as a basis for the concreteisation of the EHS: Top 10, the properties of the land-managing organisations (SBB, NMM, HDL), water companies and private forest owners, forest expansion and forest reserves, Natura 2000 areas and the agricultural areas bordered in the Provincial Nature Management Plan as an agricultural nature reserve and transform into nature. A large part of the agricultural nature reserve lies outside the main ecological structure, but is an important contribution to the EHS. The military areas with natural values are a special designation. These areas are not part of the EHS because they have a primary military function, but they are essential for the functioning of the EHS.
