Fertility; observation and prognosis, lft and birth generation; 2020-2070
Description
This table contains age-specific fertility rates (number of children per woman) by maternal ranking and woman’s birth generation. The figures refer to the population of the Netherlands.
Fertility rates are partly made up of observations, complemented by future expectations of age-specific fertility rates.
Data available: from Birth Generation 1935
Status of the figures:
The figures based on the number of births observed up to and including the year 2019 are definitive. Figures complemented by future fertility expectations come from the CBS Population Forecast 2020-2070. This means that the total of all ages is filled with observations up to and including birth generation 1969. Fertility rates per age are filled with observations up to birth generation 2019 minus age. For example, for age 30 birth generations 1935 to 1989 are based on observations; the subsequent birth generations are based on the prognosis.

None, this table has been discontinued. See paragraph 3 for the successor to this table.
Amendments as of 16 December 2020:
None, this is a new table in which the previous forecast has been adjusted on the basis of the observations now available. The forecast period now runs from 2020 to 2070. This new table incorporates the figures related to birth observations up to and including 2019.
When will there be new figures?
The frequency of appearance of this table is one-off. A new table with the (prognosis of) fertility rates will be published in December 2023.
