National Hydrological Instruments (NHI) - network schematization

Description

This dataset of the Dutch Hydrological Instrumentarium contains the nodes and links for groundwater and surface water models for the Netherlands on a national and regional scale. The national application is called the National Hydrological Model (LHM). The LHM is mainly focused on water movement in average and dry conditions and has been used in the Delta model and an operational national model for current drought. The NHI also focuses on regional analysis of the groundwater and surface water system through cooperation between, among others, water boards, drinking water companies and provinces. In the data, the direction of the downstream node is reported. This does not mean that this is the only possible direction of flow. Each branch has two characteristics: the capacity of the branch in the upstream direction and the capacity of the branch in the downstream direction.
