Status survey PM10 Burgenland
Description
In Burgenland, the limit value for PM10 in accordance with the Air Quality Directive and the Air Pollution Control Act was exceeded in 2010 and 2011. The present status survey serves the spatial and sectoral source assignment and forms the basis for measures. The source assignment is based on PM10 measurement data, chemical analyses of PM10, meteorological data including trajectories and emission data on different spatial scales. In northern Burgenland, more than 90% of the increased PM10 pollution is due to sources in Lower Austria and Vienna as well as abroad, especially in Hungary, Poland and Slovakia. In southern Burgenland, local emissions and regional sources predominate in Styria and Hungary due to less favourable dispersion conditions. The most important source groups in Burgenland are road transport and space heating, so possible measures focus on these sectors.
