Register of archaeological monuments of Małopolskie Voivodeship
Description
The collection contains data on archaeological sites entered in the register of monuments of Małopolska province, i.e. the areas where they are located in the original context (in situ), archaeological sources – relics of human activity in the past. The sites may manifest on the surface in the form of a terrain form (houses, curhanes, mounds, ruins) or movable archaeological monuments (usually fragments of ceramics) determining the existence of a settlement, cemetery or a site with a different function. The registration of archaeological monuments in the register is made by the provincial conservator of monuments by means of a decision. On a national scale, the register contains more than 7,600 immovable archaeological monuments (sites).
