Vahti Guide 2008/3 Information security instructions for central government encryption practices
Description
This document guides the utilisation of various encryption solutions in the IT environment of public administration. Cryptographic solutions are presented not only as a technology that meets a single need, but as an alternative, complementary and enabling data control. A cryptographic solution is an entity that requires functionality and reliability. Encryption technology is used to control the confidentiality and integrity of information and to enable reliable authentication and authentication.
The guide replaces the central government’s recommendation on information security practices in the previous VAHTI publication, VAHTI 3/2001.
The Ministry of Finance is responsible for the steering and development of information security in public administration. The Ministry has appointed the Government Information Security Management Board (VAHTI) as the body for cooperation, guidance and development in the administration of information security. Through its activities, the Government and the Ministry of Finance support the Government and the Ministry of Finance in decision-making related to information security in the administration and in its preparation.
