Swiss Operation Classification (CHOP)

Description

As part of medical statistics, all hospital stays in Switzerland are recorded annually in all hospitals and clinics in Switzerland. The survey includes, among other things, the diagnoses and treatments of each patient. In order to further process this information, it is encoded. Two medical classifications are used for this purpose: the ICD-10-GM for diagnoses and CHOP for treatments. The coding of diagnoses and treatments is subject to precise guidelines. The field of medical coding and classifications of the BFS edits, reviews and adapts these guidelines at most, maintains the above-mentioned classifications and supports all those involved in encoding. This version of the systematic directory is the definitively valid version, which will enter into force on 1 January 1.1.2021 in Switzerland. It will be available in three languages (German, French and Italian) and in various formats (PDF, CSV, Print). The PDF and CSV versions can be downloaded directly from the BFS website.
