Clearwater lakes in the state of Brandenburg
Description
Clearwater lakes are those lakes that have high visibility depths all year round or are particularly low in nutrients and therefore have a pronounced underwater vegetation of chandelier algae or spawning herb communities. The selection of the 124 clear water lakes in the shape is based on the limnochemical analysis of 310 lakes between 2009 and 2021. The decisive factor is therefore the current state, not the mission statement/reference state for the lakes. The following criteria were used for selection: Trophies = oligotrophic and mesotrophic or seasonal means of visual depth above 2.5 meters or seasonal means total phosphorus less than 35 micrograms per liter. Among the selected lakes are the most valuable and sensitive lakes in the state of Brandenburg. Among other things, the lake scenery is relevant for the implementation of various water protection measures.
