Composition of development of goods exports: exporter characteristic
Description
This table contains figures on the evolution of the Dutch export value and the contribution of exporters to it broken down by company characteristics of size, multinationality, industry and export status.
Data available from: 2012, with the exception of the series with distinction by export status. It is available from 2014.
Status of the figures:
Preliminary figures on international trade may be adjusted on the basis of new or modified source material. As a result, they are for a longer period of time. In the fourth quarter following the year under review, the provisional figures become final. All the years before are final.
Amendments as of 7 October 2022:
The preliminary figures for 2020 and 2021 related to SBI2008 have been added, new figures on ‘Create ZMKB and multinationals’
for the years 2012 to 2021 have been added and the provisional figures ‘export status’ for 2019 to 2021 have been added.
Due to an adaptation of the definition of self-employed SMEs, companies that fall within self-employed SMEs in terms of number of persons, but have also taken one or more subsidiaries abroad from the self-employed SMEs and have been added to the large company. The figures on ‘Growth exports’ and ‘Contribution to total export growth’ from the large company, Self-employed SMEs (0 to 10 wp), Self-employed SMEs (10 to 50 wp) and Self-employed SMEs (50 to 250 wp) for the years 2012-2019 have therefore been adjusted. In addition, the figures for ‘Dutch multinational company’ and ‘No multinational company’ have also been adjusted for the years 2012-2019. This is due to a method improvement for the determination of Dutch multinationals.
Amendments as of 22 December 2021:
The figures on ‘Growth exports’ and ‘Contribution to total export growth’ from the large company, Self-employed SMEs (0 to 10 wp), Self-employed SMEs (10 to 50 wp), Self-employed SMEs (50 to 250 wp) and Foreign Multinational Enterprises for the years 2017 and 2018 have been adjusted because they were unjustified as final, and the figures on ‘Growth exports’ and ‘Contribution to total growth exports’ of Dutch multinational companies and No multinational companies have been adjusted for the years 2013-2014 and 2016-2018. This is due to a fixed error in the underlying source data.
When will there be new figures?
The new figures appear in the fourth quarter after the year under review.
