Frame maps to the topographic map of the General Staff have been geo-corrected.
Frame maps are a historical source material showing the location and extent of past arable land, i.e. land managed as arable or hayland.
The board maps consist of transports of large scale survey maps, large-scale shift maps and patch maps, which have been glued together into a frame map. The chronological span of the substrates is large – from about 1700 to about 1900. The transport of survey maps varies in quality and in how clearly the land types of fields and meadows are reported. Wetlands, as a rule, are well accounted for.
Stomkartbladen has previously only been available as an original at the National Archives. Coverage is not complete and the quality varies. Only map sheets that report land use to some extent have been digitised.
They complement the Häradseconomic map, which covers much of Götaland and Svealand and is geo-refered and downloadable (https://geodata.naturvardsverket.se/nedladdning/haradskartan/).
The frame maps are divided into two map series, Norra (Serie J2aa) and Södraverk (Serie J2ab). The northern work has map sheets in scale 1:100 000 or 1:200 000 and the Södraverk map sheet in scale 1:100 000. The volumes in the Northern Work generally consist of four to six sub-map sheets, which together form a map sheet, while the volumes in the Södraverk usually consist of two to four sub-map sheets.
