Records and arrests of suspects; Nationality 1999-2022
Description
This table provides data on the number of registrations and arrests of suspects of a crime registered in the reporting year, by crime group. The suspects are distinguished by gender, nationality and whether or not they are registered in the population register of a Dutch municipality. The table contains only absolute figures.
When three suspects are registered in one crime, we count three registrations of suspects in this table. When one person is registered as a suspect in three different crimes, we also count three registrations in the table.
Data on suspects' registrations are available from 2005.
Due to the disappearance of the Recognition Service Systems (HKS), figures on arrested suspects are available from 1999 to 2014.
Status of figures:
The figures up to 2020 are final. Figures for 2021 and 2022 are provisional. Preliminary figures give an underestimation of the final number of registrations and arrests. The preliminary number in the most recent year is a few percent lower than the final number.
Changes as of May 2024:
This table has been discontinued. In 2024, a new StatLine table on registrations of suspects was published. The figures in the new table differ slightly from the figures in this table because in the new table figures on missing suspects, registered by the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee, are no longer estimated. In addition, the most recent years have been updated. The new tables only present figures on registrations of suspects and no longer on arrests of suspects.
