Prosecution and adjudication of crimes; socio-economic cat. 2001-2021
Description
This table deals with court criminal cases registered with a public prosecutor’s office, on which the Public Prosecution Service (OM) has taken a decision and which have been settled by the court of first instance. The data can be broken down by type of suspect, type of crime, age at the time of committing and socio-economic category. Decisions made by the Public Prosecution Service are broken down by type of decision. The court’s decisions are broken down by type of final decision and type of penalty. Cases joined by the judge at the hearing to another case are not counted as a settlement. The socio-economic category is determined for the month in which the case respectively flows in, there is a decision of the Public Prosecution Service in the case or in which the court of first instance closes the case. It is possible that persons under the age of 65 receive a pension benefit as a socio-economic category. This includes orphans' benefits and benefits from savings (a type of annuity) that parents have taken out for their children. The table concerns personal data on the topic of prosecution and trial. The personal data relate to characteristics of the suspect/convicted person in a case. The figures therefore also relate to the related matters. The table is not unique at the person level. First, individuals in this table may appear multiple times in a year if they are suspected/convicted in multiple cases in that year. For example, a person can be a suspect in several cases that flow into the Public Prosecution Service in a year. Secondly, the case of a person may be counted in several stages within a year; for example, if the case flows into the Public Prosecution Service in the same year as the Public Prosecution Service makes a decision in the case.
