Victim support; type, crime, migration background and age (2004-2021)
Description
This table gives an overview of persons who have been registered with Victimhulp Nederland and who are known in the social statistics files of Statistics Netherlands.
The figures are broken down by age, gender, origin, type of client and type of offence. A person may end up at Victimhulp Nederland (SHN) for various offences or accidents one or more times in a reporting year. This person is then counted once in the table, in the first offence.
The table also contains relative figures. This means that the number of persons who have been in contact with Victim Aid is shown per 100000 inhabitants of the population concerned. In addition to victims of crime and accidents, witnesses, persons involved, culprits or survivors can also be a client of Victimhulp Nederland.
Due to a change at Victimhulp Nederland in the award of type of client, a trend break between 2016 and 2017.
In addition, there has been a phasing out of receiving the daily reports in traffic accidents received by Victim Aid Netherlands. This has mainly resulted in a substantial reduction in the number of ‘involved’ clients with the victim typing in 2018.

Status of the figures:
The figures up to 2020 are final. The figures for 2021 are provisional. As the table has been discontinued, these figures are no longer finalised.
