Consumer prices; contribution and impact, HICP 2015=100
Description
This table provides figures on the annual change in spending categories of the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP). For each category, you can also find how many consumers in the Netherlands spend on it in relation to their total expenditure. This is called the weighting coefficient.
In addition, the table shows the contribution and impact of HICP spending categories. The contributions of the individual categories add up to the overall annual rate of change in the HICP and reflect the share of the price increase in the annual rate of change in the HICP. The impact, on the other hand, answers the question of how much higher or lower the annual change in the HICP would be if a certain category were not used to measure the annual change in the HICP. These figures can be viewed across 139 product groups. There are also 34 aggregations of product groups (special aggregates) in the table.
HICP figures are published every month. In addition, an annual figure will be published at the end of the year. The HICP of a calendar year is calculated as the average of the 12-month indices of that year.

Status of figures:
The HICP results in this table are in most cases immediately final upon publication. Results of the HICP are only characterised as provisional if it is already known at the time of publication that data are still incomplete, a revision is expected in a later month, or in special circumstances such as the coronavirus crisis.
In most cases, all requested price information is known to Statistics Netherlands when the results are published and no further adjustments are made at a later date. However, sometimes certain price information is not available on time and the outcome can be adjusted later. HICP results can then always be revised at the same time as the CPI results, even if they were not published as provisional in the previous month. CPI results are characterized as provisional at the first publication of the indices, the month on which the figures are final.

Changes as of 9 June 2022:
The unit of contribution to the annual change and the impact on the annual change has been adjusted to 'percentage point'. Previously, the table incorrectly stated 'percent' as a unit.
When will there be new figures?
The new figures are usually published between the first and second Thursday of the month following the month under review.
