Central government; income and expenses per month on a cash basis
Description
This table contains monthly cash data on the income, expenditure and balance of the central government. The data comes directly from the accounts of the relevant public authorities. This table presents the amounts on a cash basis. This means that the time of payment is the criterion for the booking. The data presented are not consistent with the national accounts publications.
This table gives substance to EU Directive 2011/85. This directive is part of six European legislative measures known as the 'Sixpack'.
Statistics Netherlands revises the national accounts every five years. This provides adjustments to, among other things, gross domestic product (GDP) and government finance statistics. As part of the overhaul, the determination of the population of the central government will be improved qualitatively. In addition, classifications of certain income and expenses change. This publication with the cash expenditure, cash income and the balance of the central government is prepared using the current method, whereby older figures are not adjusted. As a result, there is a method breach between December 2023 and January 2024. The same type of break exists between December 2017 and January 2018, when the method was also changed as a result of a revision.

Status of figures:
Figures for October, November, December 2023, April and May 2024 are provisional. The figures for January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September 2023, January, February and March 2024 have further provisional status and the figures for 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 have final status.

The status of the figures for January, February and March 2024 has changed to more provisional.
When will there be new figures?
The new monthly figures are published one month after the end of a reporting month. When a new month is published, the provisional figures of the previous month can be adjusted. The figures for three consecutive months within a quarter shall be adjusted at the end of the following quarter. Six months after the end of the year, the figures become final.
