Fruit fly - Fruit trees on public land
Description
With the website and web app Fruit Fly, fruit trees can be found on public land in Vienna. The initiative started as a crowdsourcing project in which users report locations of publicly accessible fruit trees. OGD location data from the [tree cadastre] inventory (https://www.data.gv.at/katalog/dataset/c91a4635-8b7d-43fe-9b27-d95dec8392a7/) have now been collected.
In addition to filtering by type of fruit, it is also possible to display currently ripe fruits during a certain period of time. Information and recipes for the different types of fruit complete the offer.
The site calls for careful handling of the fruit trees: "Do not hurt branches", "Let the immature remain on the tree", "Do not be tempted to steal fruit from private gardens", "The commercial use of fruit is not allowed in the rules".
