OAF soil water conditions BB (OAF-BOWASSVERH)

Description

The Download Service (OAF) Bodenwasserverhältnisse Brandenburg provides data on characteristic values of water movement, water retention, wetting conditions and retention areas flooding for the state of Brandenburg. The content was designed for scale 1: 300,000 and are for representations in scales greater than 1: 100,000 is unsuitable. Water movement and water retention: The service is based on the legend units of the soil overview map with corresponding assignment of parameterized surface soil shapes. These represent a soil-forming society per unit of legend. The individual (surface) soil forms were subjected to parameters determined by field and laboratory tests. For this purpose, the corresponding parameters were statistically derived for the same horizon-substrate combinations (usually the median value). In the case of insufficient data, due to the better consistency of the derived values with measured data from the characteristic value tables of the Soil Science Mapping Guide, 3rd edition, Hanover 1982 (Soil Science Working Group), Table 43 was used for water binding using linking rule 1.11 (methodological documentation soil science, Hennings et al 2000) and Table 49 was used for water movement using linking rule 1.12 (dito). Wetness ratios: The service is based on the Legend Units of the Ground Map. These are soil-forming societies. The enumerated (area) soil forms were evaluated according to their statement on soil water conditions. This was done primarily on the basis of the soil systematic units involved. These units provided the information on the degree of wetting and the area proportions for distribution. In the case of groundwater soils, the degree of wetting depends on the depth of the groundwater level in the soil area up to a maximum of 2 m below the corridor and in the case of backwater soils on the intensity or duration of the leachate present in the soil after precipitation and prevented from seepage. Retention areas: The data set contains data from the LBGR on the retention areas flooding Brandenburg and is provided via a display and download service. The flood events of recent years on the Oder and Elbe, which also affected the state of Brandenburg, showed that the timing of the flood wave was significantly shortened compared to previous events, which resulted in a higher amplitude, i.e. higher water levels. One of the main reasons for this is a drastic decline in natural retention areas, caused by increased near-surface water drainage in the catchment areas and by the reduction of natural floodplains near the river. Retention in the hydrological sense is the reduction, inhibition or delay of the drainage process. These processes can have a direct impact on the flood wave in the rivers and their floodplains (water retention) or can also control the formation of a flood wave in the catchment area (area retention). Measures to maintain and extend retention spaces on the river itself are the most effective method of mitigating the water level during flood runoff in a body of water, as the flood wave is deformed during its course in the river bed and in the floodplain by various retention mechanisms (Böhm et al. 1999). There are limits to technical flood protection (dikes, retention basins, dams), as retention basins are not arbitrarily large and dikes cannot always be built higher. (National Environment Agency 2003). Area retention, on the other hand, aims to reduce the outflow wave by preventing the water from flowing at the location of precipitation where possible or by delaying the outflow (Böhm et al. 1999). One goal of flood prevention must therefore be to prevent drain-increasing and drain-accelerating measures and to reverse or at least mitigate as far as possible any negative effects that have already occurred. This requires knowledge of suitable potential retention areas. OGC API features is a web API that simplifies the use of data in appropriate web development environments. The API includes the following collections: Water movement Water retention Retention areas Flooding Wetness ratios
