Base Paleogen

Description

For the base of the palaeogen was based on the Geotectonic Atlas of Northwest Germany and the German North Sea Sector (GTA) (Baldschuhn et al. 2001) the base of the Upper Paleocene or if this unit is not present that of the hanging Eocene mapped. The base area defined in this way can be traced over large parts of the investigation area, following the deep trend of the chalk rocks and reaching the highest depth in the edge sinks, especially to the west of the central salt wall. High altitudes are located above the salt cushions Lilli/Leila and Hulda as well as along the flanks of the salt walls. Only above the salt wall (Lollo/Lisa) remains a relatively small area uncovered.
