This table provides detailed data on the size and composition of the Dutch park of passenger cars on the reference date 1 January. The figures are based on the registration number of RDW. With the help of this registration, censuses were made of all vehicles with current registration plates that appeared in the registration file on 1 January of the year in question. These are counts according to the characteristics of the vehicle (year of manufacture, fuel type, weight and colour) according to the name of the owner and characteristics of the owner (province and age).
The figures in this table have been calculated on the basis of the selection method of recent years, which means that the figures for 1 January 2022 are comparable to those of previous years.
In Q2 this year, a new Statline table with figures on the vehicle fleet will be published on the basis of an adapted selection method (future method). This table will contain figures of four levels: 1 January 2019, 1 January 2020, 1 January 2021 and 1 January 2022. The new Statline table also includes a method report, explaining and quantifying the differences between the methodology in recent years and the future method.
