Mopeds; number (per 1000 inhabitants), regions, 1 January, 2007-2022
Description
This table contains data on the possession of mopeds, mopeds and mopeds according to the stand on 1 January of each year. The table excludes all other vehicles with a valid moped registration, such as moped quads, cargo mopeds and 3-wheel mopeds.
The data are based on information from the vehicle registration of the RDW. Registration for these vehicles has been mandatory since 1 September 2005. Of all Dutch mopeds and mopeds, the technical data of the vehicle and the personal data of the owner/holder are recorded. The counts are broken down by characteristics of the vehicle (type) and by characteristics of the owner (municipality).
The number of mopeds and mopeds in this table is greater than in the tables based on the MON/OViN/ODiN. In the MON/OViN/ODiN, moped owners are counted. This is corrected for the effect of multiple moped ownership. In addition, the difference is caused by the fact that the MON/OViN/ODiN figures do not include mopeds and mopeds owned by companies.
The number of speed pedelecs on 1 January 2022 is 2 percent of the total number of vehicles with a moped registration. About two-thirds of the speed pedelecs are included in the mopeds and a third in the mopeds.
As of reporting year 2020, electric brommobiles have also been included in the category of brommobiles. Before that time, these electric vehicles were included in the category Other vehicles with a moped registration.
