Maritime Delimitation – External Limit of the Exclusive Economic Zone (200 miles)
Description
In accordance with Article 57 of UNCLOS, the outer boundary of the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) is 200 nautical miles from the baselines. This boundary separates the EEZ from the high seas. Beyond this limit, an extension of the continental shelf is possible subject to the criteria of Article 76 of UNCLOS.
The objects of the theme “External limitation of the exclusive economic zone” are derived from Shom calculations and comply with Article 10 of Ordinance No. 2016-1687 of 8 December 2016 and are published by decree of the French Republic.
